The American Heart Association (AHA) web site has a good section on stroke as well as an "A to Z" guide: http://www.amhrt.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=10000056 Brain attack is closely related to heart attack, both diseases are caused by cardiovascular disease and both stroke and heart attack require emergency medical treatment.

National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) maintains an excellent website at http://www.ninds.nih.gov. NINDS is an agency of the U.S. Federal Government and a component of the National Institutes of Health and the U.S. Public Health Service. NINDS is a leading supporter of biomedical research on disorders of the brain and nervous system, including stroke/brain attack.
